SPRINGFIELD — Senator Sue Rezin said Governor Bruce Rauner gave an “upbeat tone and optimism” when it came to his budget speech yesterday. Rauner is proposing what he calls a balanced budget. But expected spending outstrips revenue by at least $4 billion. Rezin said Rauner’s optimistic attitude was something lawmakers needed to hear if Illinois is to move forward. Rezin said, “Working together will get us to the right destination in the state for a true, balanced budget.” She said everyday without a balanced budget makes things worse for taxpayers, schools, and more.
