2019 Polar Plunge a Success at Lake Mendota

MENDOTA – The crowd was energetic as over 250 participants braved the icy waters of Lake Mendota to raise money for Special Olympics of Illinois.   Teams adorned costumes and jumped in groups into the water, which was around 28 degrees.   The weather wasn’t that much better, as the gusty winds drive the wind chill into the mid 20’s.

Over $40,000 so far was raised during the event held at noon on Saturday.
