Addiction foundation emphasizes education to youth, as marijuana legalization kicks in

By: freeimage4life

LASALLE – The legalization of marijuana is approaching fast. Come January 1st, those 21-years and older will be able to purchase and use marijuana, a substance that lingers a negative stigma. Since the proposal of legalization, parents have raised their concern on the impact it could have on teenagers. One addiction foundation in the Illinois Valley wants to turn the spotlight to education.

According to Luke Tomsha, founder of the Perfectly Flawed Foundation, in order to protect kids, we must use open and honest forms of education about the plant rather than leaving it a taboo. He says you can reduce harms and risks in the long run with community involvement. Thats why Tomsha plans to make education a focal point for his foundation in the new year. They will be distributing educational materials like “Safety First” and “Just Say Know” pamphlets for free to teenagers.
