OTTAWA – Area gas prices remain steady as we go into what may be a holiday weekend with less travel than usual. According to the American Automobile Association, the Illinois average price per gallon of gasoline is at $2.22, down .40 from this time a year ago.. Looking at the area counties, LaSalle and Livingston check in at $2.08 while Bureau is at $2.18 per gallon. Putnam is showing an average of $2.12 per gallon, near the national average of $2.11.
