Armed subject in Peru in custody

PERU – Peru police responded to a home on the city’s westside for a possible armed subject in a residence who allegedly displayed a possible handgun at a civil process server. According to the Peru Police Department, a total of 10 on and off duty Peru officers, detectives and command staff responded. The one block area in all directions was secured and a Peru Police negotiator made phone contact with the individual who ultimately agreed to exit the home. Authorities say, when the person came out he allegedly discarded two bb gun pistols, both were reportedly look alikes to semi automatic handguns and the subject was taken into custody. A search of the home was made and no firearms located. The person is being held at the Peru police department as the matter is under continuing investigation. Officers are now going door to door assuring area residents the scene is now secure and safe. Further information will be released as available.
