PERU – Two people were transported to local area hospitals after a collision on Illinois 251 and Wenzel Road that ended with one vehicle crashing into Midland Bank on Tuesday night in Peru. According to Peru Fire Chief Jeff King, just after 8 p.m., a two vehicle collision occurred between an SUV and a sedan at the intersection of Illinois 251 and Wenzel Road. King stated the driver of the sedan was reportedly so shaken up that they forgot to put the vehicle in park after exiting the car.

The unoccupied vehicle was facing southbound when it took off, ultimately crashing into the northwest corner of Midland Bank on Plaza Drive.
The driver of the sedan sustained no injuries, however Peru EMS says two people involved in the incident were transported to local area hospitals.
