Cell Phone Thief Nabbed in Ottawa

OTTAWA – A Chicago man is in the LaSalle County Jail after attempting to take merchandise and an employees cell phone at a retailer in Ottawa on Wednesday. In a release from the Ottawa Police Department, around 1:30 pm on September 4th they were called to the 4000 block of Veterans Drive for a subject reportedly fleeing a business after taking some items. Witnesses to the alleged theft pursued the subject on foot and detained him. Police took 34-year-old Khanji Iknoki Fairley into custody, and during their investigation, reportedly recovered the stolen items. Fairley was charged with two counts of felony theft and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
