City of Princeton warns of utility rebate scam in the area

PRINCETON – Princeton’s city manager is warning utility customers of a telephone scam where the caller claims to be from the city. City manager Rachel Skaggs says the callers claim to be with the city and is offering utility rebates through Commonwealth Edison. Skaggs says the city has no relationship with Com Ed and the telephone caller has no authority to represent such a relationship. If City of Princeton utility customers were eligible for a utility rebate, then the city would notify its customers by mail in the monthly utility bill. If you receive a phone call claiming that you are eligible for a utility rebate, please hang up.
