STREATOR – The city of Streator is pursuing property near the Vermillion River for a potential canoe launch. Approximately 11.7 acres of land located at the intersection of Oakley Avenue and the Vermillion River recently went on the market, property City Manager Dave Plyman says the tourism committee has been interested in. Council members agreed to make an offer on the property so long as they are the recipients of an Open Space Lands Acquisition grant they plan to apply for. The property’s listed asking price is just over $146,000.
