STREATOR – The city of Streator is set to increase sewer rates this May, the first time since 2008. At a special city council meeting on Tuesday afternoon, members approved a 5% increase annually for three years beginning May 1st. An average monthly resident who uses 500 cubic feet a month would see an increase of $1.55, and a monthly restaurant owner who uses 7500 cubic feet per month would see an increase of just under $20. Per the updated ordinance, rates will decrease after the third year calling for a 2% annual increase in 2025.
