OTTAWA – Farm work in the area has moved on to controlling weeds and bugs as most corn and soybeans are now planted across the state. According to the USDA, nearly 90% of the corn is up with over 90% of the soybeans planted. Due to cooperative weather, farmers were able to get nearly all planting done early, even with temperatures coming in with record highs in the last few days, averaging over 8 degrees above normal. Most soybean and corn crops were rated in good to great condition.
