DeKalb Police Warn of Porch Thefts of Packages

By: Alan Levine

DEKALB – The DeKalb Police Department is warning residents about package thieves. They stated on social media on Monday that they have had investigated several thefts regarding packages that were stolen from the front of homes. They were left unattended by delivery agencies at various locations around the city. No suspects have been identified, however, they will be adding extra patrols in an effort to curb the rash of thefts. They also had some advice to share to help reduce the number of opportunities for thieves.
*Try to be at home when packages are expected to arrive
*Have the packages delivered to a neighbor, friend or your place of business, if you will not be home when the package is due to arrive
*Track your package for expected delivery time
* Request a delivery alert on your phone
*Keep your porch light on for night deliveries
