DIXON, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager accused of firing shots at Dixon High School while his classmates rehearsed for graduation has been transferred from a hospital to jail.
The Dixon Police Department said Thursday that 19-year-old Matthew Milby has been processed into the Lee County Jail.
According to the Illinois State Police, the weapon used, a 9 mm rifle, was allegedly purchased by Julie Milby, his mother in 2012.
Milby is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in the Wednesday morning shooting at Dixon High School. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
A school resource officer shot Milby after the teenager fired several shots on the school grounds. Milby was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured.
Classes were canceled Thursday.
