EPA cleanup in Ottawa continues

OTTAWA – EPA cleanup will continue into fall on property located along the Fox River near U.S 6 and Route 71 in Ottawa. According to the EPA workers are removing contaminated soil from the NPL-8 Frontage Property to reduce the risk of exposure to people who have access to the location and moving the waste to a designated fenced in landfill. Once the contaminated soil is removed, the area of the landfill will be capped to prevent exposure. The contamination is said to originate from radium based paint used by the Luminous Process Inc and the Radium Dial Company. This is the last superfund site in Ottawa.
