The Farmers Almanac is predicting a colder and snowier than usual winter calling it a, “Polar Coaster”. However, its difficult to be wrong when the just released periodical uses broad language like frozen and snowy. According to predictions by Weatherology Meteorologist Ray Miller, this winter won’t be pleasant, yet not extreme. In terms of a record season, the almanac could be wrong. Meteorologists like Miller look to the Climate Prediction Center, and according to that data, November through January have above average temperatures throughout the entire U.S. and the second half of winter, fairly close to average. Miller says the trade off could be more precipitation than anything, and of course that’s not guaranteed either. Long term indications like El Nino and the Arctic Oscillation aren’t giving strong signs, remaining neutral, which makes any projections difficult at this time.
