LASALLE CO. – Harvest season is continuing to pose challenges for farmers across LaSalle County. Illinois Farmers are weeks behind in harvesting mainly due to the various weather extremes that began in the Spring. Now they’re faced with cold and wet grounds from recent rain and snowfall. LaSalle County Farm Bureau President David Isermann says on average, harvest is nearly a month behind.
Isermann says he knows many farmers that are hoping to be done by Christmas. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, Illinois has 40 percent of corn harvested, compared to 80 percent last year.
