GRANVILLE – One person is dead after a train vs vehicle crash in Putnam County. Thursday morning before 5 AM authorities were called to a rail crossing about 1/2 mile south of Highway 71 near Granville. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said that the driver and lone occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Police, the Norforlk Southern Railroad Police and Putnam County Death Investigator.
