OTTAWA – A five vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers sent one man to the hospital Thursday. The Illinois State Police say around 2 PM near milepost 97 in LaSalle County a group of vehicles were traveling in the right lane westbound when traffic began to slow reportedly due to another crash in the area. Authorities say a tractor-trailer driven by 45-year-old Clarence R. Lawrence of Ottawa struck multiple vehicles. A 21-year-old from Romeoville who was driving a vehicle that was hit suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Lawrence was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and was also cited for Following Too Closely.
