PERU – One man was arrested after what authorities described as high-risk search warrant on a home in the 1700 block of 1st Street in Peru.  Friday morning the Peru Emergency Response Team, Peru Police Special Investigations Unit with help from the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team searched a property as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.  The search was considered high risk they say because of information they obtained.   According to Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei, 10 officers took part in the raid and took 31-year-old Travis A. Billups into custody.  Specific charges were not given for Billups, but he was said to be on parole and will be taken back to prison.
Chief Bernabei stated “I am very pleased with the work of our officers during this operation. The officers exhibited professionalism, restraint and proper police tactics ensuring that no one was injured as the warrant was served.”
