Gas Prices Down 75 Cents From Last Summer

CHICAGO – Half way through summer, gas prices are still substantially lower than a year ago, though higher than last month.  According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.39, while a year ago the price was $3.14 for a gallon of gas.  However, that price is about a dime more than it was a month ago, at officials as AAA says demand for gasoline is at its highest point since the coronavirus pandemic began.  Locally, LaSalle County continues to have the lowest gas prices, and is lower than the state average, at $2.27 for a gallon of gas.  That’s a penny cheaper than motorists in Bureau County are currently paying.
