Gas prices nationwide decrease

CHICAGO – Countries are planning more emergency reserve releases, and the national average price of gas per gallon is trending lower in the U.S. according to the American Automobile Association. Over 30 countries, including Mexico, Japan, Germany, and Canada, announced plans to release 120 million barrels of crude oil from their emergency oil stockpiles. The amount includes a previously announced 60 million barrels of oil from the U.S.  It would be the second coordinated release in just over a month in response to spiking oil prices after Russia invaded Ukraine. On Friday President Biden signed legislation blocking Russian oil from being imported into the U.S.  Those filling up their vehicles in LaSalle County this past weekend noticed a dip in pump prices, around 20 cents cheaper than two weeks ago now at $4.20 per gallon. In Bureau County, you can expect to pay around $4.27 cents per gallon, and in Putnam County, $4.32 a gallon.
