PERU – A fire at a farm in the 300 block of North 35th Road in rural Troy Grove/ Dimmick Township had multiple area crews on scene battling what was described as a hay bale fire Monday night. Around 9 PM the Peru Fire Department received the call from the property owner, and upon arrival reported 35 bales hay on fire near a metal building. Multiple departments were called in to assist using the box alarm system, including Spring Valley, LaSalle, Oglesby, Ladd, Mendota, Troy Grove, Tonica, Standard and Utica. No injuries were reported and the buildings and livestock escaped harm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
