Hit and Run Accident Sends One to Hospital

PERU – A 58-year-old man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle was struck and knocked into a utility pole Wednesday evening.   According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office the man was southbound on US 251 five miles north of Peru around 10 pm when his vehicle was rear ended by an unknown vehicle and struck a utility pole that then fell over.  The unknown vehicle allegedly left the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.
