SPRINGFIELD – 1,549 new cases of COVID-19 were announced by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday, as well as 20 additional deaths. The IDPH has reported a total of 196,948 cases and 7,657 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. Tuesday marks the 20th straight day that the state has had a daily case count over 1,000. As of August 10th, the IDPH confirmed 1,459 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, with 336 in the ICU and 127 on ventilators.
