SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency announced a second funding opportunity to assist communities in meeting the requirements outlined in the Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act. An additional $5 million will be made available in grants to communities up to $50,000 each to identify the potentially dangerous water lines. Communities have until April 15th, 2024 to provide a complete inventory to the Illinois EPA. Peru, LaSalle and Oglesby have already been previously awarded grants from the same program.
