Illinois Bill Limiting Nurses Workload Being Considered

By: Adoarble Dude

SPRINGFIELD – A bill circulating the General Assembly would set limits to the number of patients nurses can see. Some of the requirements of The Safe Patient Limit Act are that patient assignment to those in intensive care is two per nurse, one per nurse for triage patients and three per nurse for pediatrics. It also requires that no registered nurse be assigned to a nursing unit or clinical area unless demonstrating competence in providing care. The house bill sponsored by Representative Fred Crespo, is scheduled for a second reading and short debate.
