SPRINGFIELD – Illinois officials released their daily Covid-19 case count on Friday, and it is slightly less than the day before. Illinois Department of Public Health says 857 people were confirmed positive for coronavirus, and 39 people died in the past 24 hours. However, unlike many states, primarily in the south and the west, Illinois cases declined from Thursday to Friday. Since the pandemic began, 140,000 people have contracted the virus, and nearly 7,000 people have died.
