PONTIAC – An Illinois man convicted of killing an Indiana woman and dumping her body in Livingston County back in the 1990’s could be facing the death penalty in California for the murders of five more women. 54-year-old Andrew Urdailes, was convicted in May of killing five women in Southern California between 1986 and 1995. The Orange County Superior Court jurors made the recommendation after his penalty phase hearing. Urdailes was previously sentenced to death in Illinois for killing three woman in a span of a year, including 21 year old Cassandra Corum, of Hammond, Indiana whose body was found in the Vermilion River near Pontiac in 1996. The sentence was commuted to life without parole after Illinois barred the death penalty, and Urdailes was being held at the Pontiac Correctional Center.
The Orange county superior Court jurors made the recommendation after the penalty hearing, and he’s scheduled to be sentenced by a judge on August 31st.
