OGLESBY – Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education Center will be offering Real Estate and Basic Forklift Operation classes for fall.

Real Estate Broker Pre-License (REA-1200-350) is a blended, 75-hour class to prepare students for entry into the field. Upon successful completion of this course, students have met the pre-license requirements to be eligible for the Illinois Real Estate Broker Examination.  All real estate brokers and managing brokers must be licensed by the state to conduct transactions in Illinois.  Classes meet via Zoom 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 18 through Dec. 15 and in-person Saturdays, Oct. 24 and Nov. 14. Attendance is required for the Saturday sessions. There is no class Nov. 3.

Basic Forklift Operation ensures all forklift operators, regardless of experience, have uniform understanding of the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and compliance with the safety rules and OSHA regulations at their worksite.  Students will learn safe driving skills while gaining concise knowledge of how a forklift works. Safety will be stressed as a means of reducing accidents and injuries. The 5-week course is a combination of lecture and lab.  Session one (WHS-1200-01) meets face-to-face 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 15 through Sept. 19. There is no class on Sept. 5.
