L-P student wins IVCC art competition

OGLESBY – Alaina Stasiak of LaSalle-Peru High School recently won Illinois Valley Community College’s annual High School Art Exhibit and Portfolio competition. Stasiak submitted ten works in pen and marker, gouache and watercolor, digital media and India Ink. As the winner, she will receive a one-year tuition waiver to IVCC. Stasiak’s LP art instructor is Julie Jenkins.
More than 40 students from five high schools submitted over 60 acrylic, pencil, charcoal, mixed media, sculpture, digital photography and other works to the virtual competition. Participating schools were LP, Mendota, Ottawa, Putnam County and Bureau Valley.
All works can be viewed at www.ivcc.edu/highschoolartshow through the end of March.
