LaSalle County Board Holds Off On Cannabis Decision

OTTAWA – LaSalle County Board placed on file the Zoning Board of Appeals’ recommendation to ban the sale of cannabis in unincorporated areas on Tuesday. The Zoning Board voted 4-3 to prohibit the sale at Monday’s meeting, but the board won’t officially vote to approve or reject the recommendation until December or January. While some aldermen questioned if waiting until January would conflict with cannabis becoming legal on January 1st, Deputy States Attorney George Mueller explained that because no businesses within the unincorporated areas have expressed interest in selling cannabis, there should not be an issue in waiting until after the first of the year.
