LaSalle County warns of eviction notice backlog after state moratorium is lifted

OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Process Server is warning landlords who need to begin eviction proceedings that they’ll need to make an appointment.   The county is expecting an overwhelming number of evictions to be filed.  This comes in the wake of the lifting of Governor J.P. Pritzker’s moratorium on evictions on Sunday.  The CDC’s original nationwide eviction moratorium was issued September 4, 2020.   Courts may give residents more time to access rental assistance, legal aid, and mediation.  All residential eviction summons must include a notice about Court-Based Rental Assistance, according to IllinoisCourts.gov.
