DES MOINES IA – An insurance company has chosen a late teacher from Illinois as their first ever Ag Educator of the Year.   Ed Curry of River Ridge High School was selected out of a field of finalists for Nationwide’s 2019-2020 Golden Owl Award.

“As an agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor, Ed’s passion was to make a difference for the students and the community in which he served providing a compelling link for career opportunities and goals,” Curry’s family shared.

“Ed Curry was incredible” said former Illinois FFA State Secretary Miriam Hoffman, “He genuinely cared about his students.  He always had a kind word to say, and built up his fellow teachers, too. He was a true rock for the Illinois FFA and ag ed family, and even though he’s no longer with us, his influence has continued to spread.”

Curry’s family received the Golden Owl trophy and $3,000 to help support future educational efforts.
