CHICAGO – LaSalle County gas prices are fairing cheapest in North Central Illinois according to the American Automobile Association. Area county gas prices surrounding LaSalle are averaging at least ten cents higher at around $4.50 cents per gallon, still steady with prices from two weeks ago. The AAA says, domestically, gasoline demand is defying seasonal trends and has dipped slightly, perhaps in response to higher prices at the pump. Statewide, the gas price average of $4.50 cents, is also cheaper compared to two weeks ago at nearly $5. In a new AA survey of drivers, 59% said they would change their driving habits or lifestyle if the cost of gas hit $4 per gallon. And if gas were to reach $5, which it has in the Western part of the country, three-quarters said they would need to adjust their lifestyle to offset the pump price.
