Mail price changes take effect next week

By: Smithsonian Institution

LASALLE – Mail price changes for the United States Post Office will take in effect on January 27th. In a release by the The United States Postal Service (USPS), the new rates will keep the Postal Service competitive while providing the agency with needed revenue. 1 ounce letters, and forever stamps will increase five cents, while letters with additional ounces will decrease by 6 cents. Post Master Cheryl Quaka in LaSalle, says the price changes are not too big of an issue and didn’t have the rush they expected. She says businesses that use stamps in bulk seem to be buying ahead of time, but the average person isn’t buying ahead to save.
