Man faces battery charges for altercation in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY – Multiple agencies were called Monday afternoon in Spring Valley for a man who allegedly physically assaulted his neighbors and police officers. According to the Spring Valley Police Department, they were called to the 600 block of East Cleveland Street just after 2 p.m. for multiple reports of an out of control male allegedly under the influence of drugs, assaulting people. Police say upon arrival, they encountered 37-year-old Jose L. Arteaga inside his apartment where a physical confrontation with officers ensured. Local agencies reportedly sent back up.  Arteaga was apprehended and taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. A female from the same address was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. No officers were injured. He is charged with 3 counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, 2 counts of domestic battery, 2 counts of battery and one count of resisting a peace officer.
