Man Flees Lee County Traffic Stop; Found in Mendota


 
MENDOTA – A man is in custody after fleeing a traffic stop in Lee County.   According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office they stopped a man in an SUV with expired tags on US Route 30 near Woodlawn Road Wednesday morning.  During the stop the driver allegedly gave false information to the officer, then fled in the SUV.   The vehicle was located in Southern Lee County on I-39 near Welland Road.   An extensive search ensued including the Illinois State Police, Department of Natural Resources, Dixon and Mendota Police Departments and the Sublette Fire Drone.   A resident of the area was found who reportedly gave a subject matching the description of the man a ride to a gas station in Mendota.   The subject, identified by police as 43-year-old Brandon M. Foster, of Sunnyland, Illinois, was found in a hotel room in Mendota.  He was charged with Driving While License Revoked.  Additional charges may be considered, upon further investigation and review by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
