Mendota 289 to help parents navigate IEP process

MENDOTA – A special night for parents to help families navigate the challenges of creating an Individualized Education Program, or IEP, will be coming to the Mendota 289 School District. On Thursday, May 18th from 5 PM – 6 PM in the Northbrook Middle School Gym, the presentation will discuss parent participation and have a short question and answer session afterwards. An IEP is a plan that describes the special education instruction, support, and services that students with disabilities are legally entitled to receive. Families interested in attending will need to RSVP by May 15th by contacting Maria Arredondo at (815)539-7362. Childcare services during the meeting for children ages 3 and up will be provided by the Northbrook Middle School Student Council. Pizza, cookies, and bottled water will be provided for attendees from 5 to 5:30 PM.
