Mendota 4th date moved; Sweet Corn Festival will not be the same

Mayor Boelk – Mendota

MENDOTA – Mendota Mayor David Boelk announced that although the Mendota Chamber of Commerce is still holding off on making an official decision regarding the Sweet Corn Festival, the Festival as the city has known it in years past will not take place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the Chamber has discussed some virtual events, but it would be a very different event than Mendota is used to seeing. In addition, Boelk did state that the Fourth of July celebration in Mendota has been moved to July 11th, as it is possible that the area could be in the fourth stage of Gov. J.B. Pritzker five stage reopening plan by then.
