Nearly 1/3 of all Illinois inmate COVID-19 cases are in Dixon

DIXON – Nearly 150 inmates at the Dixon Correctional Center are battling COVID-19 this week. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, 148 active cases of the novel coronavirus are at the facility among inmates, and 21 among staff. Nearly 30% of the active incarcerated cases in the state are at the Lee county complex. On Sunday the Lee County Health Department reported 9 new cases in the prison. They reported they have had 905 cases since the pandemic began and 2 deaths related to COVID-19 countywide.
