STREATOR – Streator’s Fire Department will be getting a new vehicle extrication equipment. At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, members gave the OK for the over $23,000 purchase for a set of TNT battery operated rescue tools. Fire Chief Gary Bird says the departments current Jaws-of-Life equipment is 25 years old and doesn’t have the capabilities to cut through today’s vehicles. The purchase was included in the departments 2019 budget.
