MENDOTA- Talks broke down Tuesday night in Mendota between the teachers union and District 289 officials, which means a potential strike could still occur. A union spokesperson left the meeting around 8:40 PM and said no further talks were scheduled with the mediator and the strike date of October 16th still stands. With nothing planned in the next few weeks to bring both sides back to the table, all the community can do is sit back and wait.
