UNDATED – Now that spring is upon us, gardeners might want to get a head start on cleaning up their lawns, but experts advise the contrary. In fact, many butterflies, bees, and other pollinators are currently overwintering in dead leaves and hollowed out stems of last year’s plants. Heidi Mortensen, Chief operations Officer and Co-founder of ShrubBucket, says it’s important to try and leave your lawn debris for at least five consecutive 50 degree days.
Native plants are highly recommended to encourage further pollination this spring.
