OGLESBY – Firefighters in Oglesby will be getting raises after Monday nights city council meeting. A new four-year contract with the fire department was approved, giving a raise to members of the department 3% per year and a boost to the pay of the Chief to $500 a month. Oglesby Fire Chief Ron Popurella’s pay was just $125 a month. Firefighters will also get double call pay for any call lasting over four hours. Mayor Dom Rivara said it is a way to say “Thank you for the good job they do.” A motion to approve a change in compensation for the Oglesby Ambulance employees was tabled.
