Ottawa City Council holds off on approving junk yard business on west side of town

OTTAWA – Ottawa’s City Council tabled approving a junk yard proposed on Marquette Street. During public comment at Tuesday night’s meeting residents of Price Street spoke against allowing a new junk yard in the 900 block of West Marquette Street because of the poor conditions surrounding an existing junk yard. Mike Affarano, applicant for the junk yard told council it isn’t fair to hold off because of someone else’s reputation, but he would do his best to keep his neighbors happy. The conditional use permit will be tabled for now, until council goes through more of the parameters of the proposed junk yard business.
