OTTAWA – An Ottawa man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly setting his own home on fire last month. 53-year-old Salvadore Ochoa was charged with two felony counts of arson for the June 14th fire in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street that also caused damage to the neighboring residence. According to the Ottawa Fire Department, the fire was knowingly set with the intent to cause damage. The fire is suspected to be a result of the release of an ignitable or combustible substance inside the residence. The living room on the south side of the structure and the kitchen on the west side of the residence are suspected to be the rooms of origin. Ochoa posted bond and has been released.
According to the Wallace fire protection district damages were estimated at $50,000.
