Ottawa’s I & M Canal re-watering project sees final phase

OTTAWA – Pretty soon Ottawa’s Illinois and Michigan Canal will be filled with water. According to City Engineer Tom Duttlinger, the river’s pump station will be turned on this Friday and re-watering of the canal could be as soon as next week. Duttlinger says The I & M Canal project has taken about a year and a half to complete with most of the work done in December. Now it’s up to the weather to comply to see the canal re-watered.
