SPRINGFIELD – 1,598 new coronavirus cases were reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday, along with 23 additional deaths. Wednesday’s count of confirmed COVID-19 cases is the highest the state has noted since June 2nd. Illinois has seen 165,301 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and 7,347 deaths from complications related to COVID-19. Over the past 24 hours, laboratories in the state reported 39,633 specimens.
