PERU – Dan Palmer, 41, of Roscoe, Illinois, and Katie Hoffert, 23, of Hollowayville were the male and female overall winners of the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Fall Fitness 5K run Saturday morning (Oct. 13) through the streets of Peru. Palmer’s time was 17 minutes and 40 seconds. Hoffert ran the course in 19 minutes and 53 seconds.
The IVCH 5K was organized by the hospital’s Center for Physical Rehabilitation and Aquatics as a fundraiser for the IVCH Foundation. One hundred and forty of the 160 runners who registered for the race finished.
Members of the Illinois Valley Community College volleyball team staffed the water stops along the race route. The run was an official Starved Rock Runners circuit race.
