PERU – A man whose last known residence was Peru is in custody on drug charges for meth distribution. Peru Police say 35-year-old Anthony J. Williams allegedly delivered Methamphetamine as part of an undercover police investigation led by members of the Peru Police Department Special Investigations Unit. He was taken into custody Friday around 11 AM. Williams is being held on $750,000 bond.
Chief Bernabei stated, “The distribution of these dangerous illegal drugs cannot and will not be tolerated. The PPD drug unit has a mandate to aggressively seek out, investigate and apprehend those involved in the distribution of these types of illegal narcotics”.
The LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s office and Trident Drug Unit assisted Investigation Unit Detectives during the course of the Williams investigation.
